In this month’s “Ask Melissa” column of DASH Magazine, a reader asks: “Can you recommend a healthy tailgating dish that will still make the crowd go wild?“
Her answer: My secret to light, but still filling, game-day treats: Swap in lean protein. Buffalo sauce tastes just as great doused on baked, skinless drumsticks as it does on fried wings, and flavor-packed chicken chili might even upstage the traditional beef variety. Of course, no game day is complete without a dip; my favorite is a fiber- and protein-filled black bean hummus, served with raw veggies (they look beautiful when cut longer than average) and baked pita chips. Game on!
